Quirky luxury hotels - A wonderland in an old railway station

Wednesday, 2 May 2014 10:20 AM

Set in a 1840s neoclassical railway station in the heart of Milan, the Maison Moschino provides guests with a unique design experience where nothing is as it seems.

While the facade of the hotel may still take on the grandeur of old railway station during the golden age of travel, the interior is something quite different. Expect the unexpected says the hotel’s website.

Walk in and you’re met with visions from a contemporary fairytale - a sleek lobby filled with fluffy clouds, lambs and sheep, where every detail epitomises the Moschino brand and inspiration has been take from the timeless fairytale - Alice in Wonderland.

Spread over four floors the 65 rooms and suites transport you into the world of the surreal, where a velvet ball gown becomes a bed, giant flies buzz around the ceiling, a forest grows around your head, or bright green ivy grows up the walls.

The hotel’s restaurant keeps to the theme too - decked in blue satin cocktail dresses and serving its unique susci, which is sushi Italian style. It also serves unusual gourmet deserts such as plain chocolate mousse with breadsticks, Cyprus salt and Clementine oil.

And for those who want to relax, Maison Moschino has its very own Art Spa, where luxury reigns, featuring an opulent Turkish bath, hydro massages, Jacuzzis, an oxygen therapy room and massage suite.

You won’t know if you’ve fallen down the rabbit hole or not until you’ve experienced it for yourself.

The Maison Moschino is part of the Hotelphilosophy group that manage a number of unique luxury hotels across Italy.
